Abstract
The objective of this research is to investigate the magnitude and the pattern of wage gap between male and female workers in central java at the industrial sector and to reveal the factors behind the pattern. the data were from sakernas and analyzed using regression model. the gender wage gap cannot be related to education attainment, age and work hours. the education discrepancy has greater impact female's wage than that on male's wage. it means that wage variation among female's waorker results from the large gap in terms for their education. overall, despite the large wage gap between gender, it cannot be concluded that there exists discrimination in industries. in fact, the gap results more from the difference of wage reservation between gender then discrimination. the female workers' lower wage reservation it self resulted from culture and family values that perceive their wage as a supplement to family income.
